As stated elsewhere, ethanol ain't the problem.  There are just to darned many of us humans.  Demand for food, oil, fertilized, etc. are outstriping limited supply.  It's the old economic quandry.  Limited supply unlimited demand.  Nature has a way of handling such an imbalance.  It is called survival of the fittest, in this case defined as the richest.  Darwinism is real folks, and so is social Darwinism.  As they use to say in special forces, "Sorry 'bout that."

steve d.  on Tuesday, May 06, 2008 is politically incorrect, but right on as far as the facts go; 7 Billion people is about 6 Billion too many, but we keep multiplying like rabbits, but soon millions more will be starving to death no matter what we do.

Further, Ethanol takes more out of the ecological cycle than it puts in. Brazil (which just discovered a huge oil field) uses much more efficienct sugar cane, and we should be using other products also, such as "Switch Grass" that grows much easier than corn or cane.  We need a real National Energy Plan, not just more tax credits for such as $42.5 BILLION last year & $19 BILLION this Quarter in PROFIT for Exxon-Mobil.

Wake up America, before it is too late.  Bush-Cheney are stealing your country blind.

And who has it's greasy fingers in ethanol. BIG OIL. Do you know how much fuel it takes to make ethanol? Get real people. The longer big oil controls Wall Street, the oil market, ethanol, chemical and any other big corps to make billions it will survive. Why can't we change our Constitution, similar in one way, to the British Constitution. A President can receive a vote of no confidence and thrown out by the people only? Not Congress. Along with this change how about a special voting proceedure to stop big corporations dead in their tracks. The only reason big oil is doing this is they want to drill in Alaska and profits. The price of oil wouldn't vary that much. Instead of billions it would be trillions. Who's zoomin who????

Excellent! - I should point out (and certainly I'm no fan of his) that Cuban "President" Fidel Castro brought up the point months ago that ethanol production was going to wreak havoc with the availability of food. He claimed that millions of Africans will starve. For some reason, it's always Africa. Nobody even mentions how much energy is used just to produce one (1) miserable gallon of ethanol. The "Flex" cars that run on 15% ethanol do lousy gas mileage, and emit other harmful junk up into the air. AND THE GOVERNMENT ACTUALLY PROMOTES AND PAYS TO TURN CORN INTO ETHANOL AND KNOWINGLY RISING FOOD (AND EVERYTHING ELSE) PRICES. - And what do they care? - Both in the oil business (President & Vice-President) and getting more filthy rich every day. And what can we do? - Nothing, I fear.
