I wish your cqrtoon were not such an adequate recognition of the insanity that charqcterizews our primary process.

You're so right it hurts? How do we as a nation of 300 million let Iowa and New Hampshire virtually set the political agenda? They are farmers for Christ sake! Why not wait until the national conventions so these candidates can visit me in the 4th largest metroplex (more citizens than the state of IA and NM combined...probably) and I can make them shuck and jive, kiss my neighbor’s baby, and do more than collect a check.E Clinton Browneonbeingcivilized.blogspot.com

Does America follow Iowa in a trance? Or do we understand the canidates have said all they are going to say and the rest is just fluff, posturing, and insulting TV spots.

Why Iowa and New Hampshire? I have been reading this website for 100 years and have never disagreed with Mr. Cagle's opinion...

Some state has to be first. If not Iowa, which state do you think should be first? 90% of you would say your own state. And to Mr Brown, As an urbanite of the '4th largest metroplex' I invite you to expand your mind and visit Iowa and talk to those 'farmers' and share your insights into politics. I am sure you have a lot of knowledge in how to teach them to shuck and jive.

For me, living in Iowa, all this campaigning for the past year has gotten very old. I'm more turned off by this process and the fact that we are the first in the country with our caucus, which means what? That we get to listen to all of the candidates same "just about" the same thing, day in and day out. Whoopie. As far as I'm concerned any other state can take this bombbardment of tv, radio, and mail ads away from us anytime. Like the old saying goes, be careful of what you wish for.

I think it is unfair that Iowa gets all of this money and publicity! What they decide will have noeffect on my decision. I just wish Chris Matthews would shut his loud mouth. No one caresabout his opinion.

Great message! This image is so accurate it's actually inspired me to submit my first comment to any blog, EVER! It's ridiculous to think that the results of the events in Iowa tonight will accurately reflect the outcome of the November election; much less have a significant influence more a very small percentage of very ill informed voters.

wow, that was just hilarious. No really, my sides are splitting. Can the next comic be a bunch of people lynching the cartoonist?I'm sure its a more accurate depiction of what everyone is thinking right now.... And he's shit.

NUTS ONE PLACE CANNOT DECINE FOR ALL

I disagree w/ "Spik". The cartoonist seems quite talented. Americans in general are consistently rather stupid. They chose a liar over a statesman in ’04, they chose a brilliant man in 2000 but instead accepted the loser, the worst bully ever who was lying, cheating and bulling well before they ran him for president. Even look at how they run their finances: every homeowner who’s in trouble on their adjustable mort’g was alive when, during Regan years rates went from 9 to 12 to 14 to 18%! Were they idiots when they took 3% loans thinking it’d last? YOU BET THEY WERE. AMERICANS ARE IDIOTS AND MOST OF THE WORLD HAS KNOWN THIS, NOW (w/ Bush) THEY ALL DO. We’re like the retarded rich kid, “look how smart Jimmy is!” they say. Jimmy isn’t smart. Thats: US VOTERS ARE NOT SMART. We’re rich, but (as group) dumb, ..and ugly.

"Iowa" in the cartoon should have been titled "Big Media", then it would have made me laugh

Totally agree with "Brumer"

I am proud to say I participated in the Iowa caucus. Although the democratic candidate I stood up for did not win (I won't mention her name), it was great fun. Being an Iowan for the past three years, I am amazed at the time (and money)they spent. I got some really cool soveniers as well. The whole experience of campaigning and seeing candidates in action, as opposed to media, did change my perception of them.

I'm always hopeful that we will break this cycle. (lol)

I waited a couple of days for the "Iowa Caucus" cartoons to come out and this one is by far the best...A Classic.

This is so true that it hurts. The only reason why Iowa consistently gets to go first is because any candidate that speaks out against it would lose in that crucial state. We as a people must do something about it, but most of us don't care enough.
