the loyal bushies are saying another year, or at least long enough so they can blame this travesty on Democrats.

Nobody is asking? That's simply not so. The question has been asked on every level for years now. Opinions have been expressed on national news broadcasts that range from early next year to "at least ten years".

The American people have this question in the forefront of their thoughts. If it seems as though the question is not being asked, it is because we dread the answer.

Working or not.  Just please bring our soldiers home now.  Help OUR men and women that have come home blinded, without limbs, mentally unstable try to live a decent life.  They have all given way too much.  Charity begins at home, not in the pockets of the big guys socking away blood money at our expense.

Thomas Jefferson said words to the effect, there was no good war nor bad peace.  When will we learn?  Perhaps we need to elect folks who have been there and done that?  If not our leaders, at least their kin should be at risk.

Sandy hits the proverbial nail right on the head describing what Bush & Crew have wrought by invading Iraq for no good reasons

I don't hear you complaining about us spending millions of dollars in Korea and all of the other places around the world where we have been since I was a child (I'm now 69). We should get out when peace is achieve in the area. People die in war and it will always be that way. What we need are some of people with all the answers to step up instead of hiding behind the men and women that do step forward.

I disagree with the cartoon in the fact that "The Surge" is working and it is NOT just a temporary fix. I agree with the editorial in what it says. Deaths on all sides have dropped drasticly in the past year, there is running water and electricity in places whee there has been none for year, if ever. The schools are open. People are shopping and there is food to buy. The oil money no longer goes to the dictator. It goes to rebuild the provinces. We never hear about all the good things that are happening there, just the negative. I guess people would rather herar about a bomb killing 20 people than Marines actually building new schools and public works. The government is not moving fast ehough, but remember they are trying to overcome a thousand years of warlords fighting each other and of Sunnis and Sheites killing each other just because they are of different beliefs.

Dan - finally someone with some common sense - couldn't have said it better myself. Thanks.

Dan,I too appreciate what you said, but please re-read your last three sentences.  They will always have different beliefs and they will always fight each other.

Exactly right.  This issue is mentioned in passing, barely, but no one is really stepping up with answers.  Hard choices await if we are to end this disastrous occupation in Iraq, forestall an invasion of Iran, and turn our own country around to the path of high ideals and trust upon which it was founded. There was never a connection between 9/11 and Iraq.  We shouldn't be there!  What part of STUPID don't people understand??

With some predicting a recession due to slow housing market, climate changing the economies of different states ie California, and wine etc ... I'm wondering too! I think this cartoon is dead on. As long as there is money available. But I disagree wiprevious comment that this is a stupid war. I don't think so.

Another tiresome liberal "surge-denial" cartoon.  Liberals can't stand the idea that things might be turning around in Iraq.

Right on; only one could blow away an extremity to bring it up to date. Not only is this war stupid; it's illegal and immoral. This group of criminalys will be judged worse than Grant's and Buchanan's administrations combined squared ir cubed. Sadly, they won't be brought to trial. Somebody ought to tell GW that the enemy of this war has gone AWOL.
