The sooner we seal our borders and send the current batch of illegals back to Mexico the better off we will be.I have no objection to anyone who wants to come here, provided they do so legally. And they must come here to become and American, not turn my country (I am a public school teacher who is also a Navy veteran) into the third world toilet they left behind. MECHA and Reconquista run LA Unified as well as SBCUSD. No teacher can even discuss the legal status of our classes (and I haven't taught a Caucasian child in over decade). They get free health care, eye care, counseling services, tutoring (but they don't learn to read), breakfast, lunch, before and after school care with snacks...the list goes on and on.It's time to put a stop to it.

I have relatives who came here from Europe but had to do so on the quota system. The husband came here first, left wife and three children behind and five years later he was allowed to bring his family here to be with him. And the Mexicans walk over the border, receive free everything refuse to speak English and make this country another Mexico. Give me a break!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't disagree with anything Jo Lavender said. I, too, am a teacher. My wife is, also, and she reported that in the May 1st demonstrations last year, 20 of her 28 students didn't show up for school that day, being hauled along to the demonstration by their illegal alien parents (thus demonstrating their concern that their children get an education).Hospitals are being bankrupted because we have to give free health care to illegals (who use emergency rooms as you do your doctor's office -- the difference is: they have no co-pay). Illegal alien-caused crime and traffic deaths abound. Now they want to pay IN-STATE TUITION RATES for college, while legal Americans from other states still have to pay out-of-state rates. I can't believe the nerve of these people, nor can I believe people think that people like Tom Tancredo was a "one-issue candidate," when this problem spans most economic issues, not to mention the social issues of trying to destroy American culture.Thank God people are finally waking up. I just hope they stick to it.http://www.patriotsborderalliance.com

Margulies political cartoon says it quite well. Why is it that cartoonists usually see conditions in a very clear light but members of Congress act like complete idiots.... oh, I forgot they are EITHER idiots or money grubbing do-nothings whose only purpose seems to be to get elected.

Most of these people came here legally, but the immigration system is so complex, slow and expensive that even well educated people become frustrated dealing with it. It is no wonder that others decide to forget about the USCIS, the Dept. of Homeland Security and the State Department, and just go their own way. When someone talks about immigration reform, the first thing that needs reforming is the bureaucracy in these institutions. No one should have to wait years for a response from these people, as often happens.

Bravo Arizona. If the Fed under that Bush league guy won't enforce the laws of the land, I guess the states must take on the job. Watch the Arizona welfare roles drop, education improve, health care improve, and the crime rate plumate as the law takes effect. As for who will do the dirty jobs no real American wants to do, technology will do much and higher wages for legals will do the rest. As we did in the 30's under the FDR administration--send the illegals home.

David,You sound like an apologist for the illegals. Don’t blame the problem on us; blame it on them for not wanting to follow our laws. Tell them to wait in line like others have done in the past. If our economy needs them then technology will catch up and we’ll get them into the country sooner. For now they are unneeded and unwanted. They are a huge drain on our society.

My only fear is that because our elected officials, refuse to do that which "We the People" are demanding, there will be a rumble in River City before all of this is over.

I have watched a health care system become broken in my community. For years our docs provided maternity care for hundreds of illegals. Finally they said if the government is going to do nothing then why should we spend time away from our own families to provide this care. How many hospitals and clinics do we need to go bankrupt because the federal government requires that no one can be turned away from hospitals and emergency departments. I say go Arizona!

interesting . . . "Prime Minister John Howard - Australia Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia , as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks.. Separately, Howard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying he supported spy agencies monitoring the nation's mosques. Quote: 'IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians.' 'This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom' 'We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society . Learn the language!' 'Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.' 'We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.' 'This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom, 'THE RIGHT TO LEAVE'.' 'If you aren't happy here then LEAVE. We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted.'"
