Maybe you think its a good idea to allow the terriost, who plot to kill thousands of people, to just ask them to please give us information.  Wake up! These are mad men who must think we are too soft to defend ourselves.

Which world wide convention is it that bans torture that the US has agreed to?????? Geneva!!! Don't freakin complain when it happens to our soldiers... If it's not permitted--it's not permitted for all sides.. get a clue....

HANG ON, FOLKS. WATERBOARDING, AND THE REST OF BUSH & ROVE FELONIES WILL END ON JAN 2009 AND HOPEFULLY THE PHONY WAR PERPETRATED ON US.

Were Bush and Chaney crossing their fingers when the each took the oath of office?  Upholding the constitution of the USA, indeed . . .

Great cartoon, I love it.  Nixon would be proud of today's CIA.  And in response to the pro-torture advocates, let us not forget that we, the USA prosecuted the Japanese for water boarding our soldiers in WWII, and prosecuted our own in Vietnam for water boarding.  Not to mention that information gained through torture has been proven to be unreliable.  One would say anything to make it stop.  An Innocent would admit to whatever they say he or she did.  Water boarding has been illegal since the end of the Spanish Inquisition, when it was invented.

I expect to be shouted down by crude and blood thirsty members of our society who have watched too much TV, that's okay, I can take it.  I believe in a better America.

I hope waterboarding does not end with a new administration. It works and no physical hard comes from its use. Mental, perhaps, but we are talking about mental giants that want to see all non-Muslins killed. It sure beats us being attack once again.

I agree, stop water bording. Just line them up, ask them for the information, and if they dont give it to you, tell them you will shoot them one by one infront of the others.  If they give you the information they go into the whitness protection program if not shoot then in front of the rest. Works for me, bet it works for them.

True to form, the blood thirsty hard line tactic crowd speaks.  However everybody is missing the real issue here, the CIA not telling congress what they were doing, out there unemcumbered by the will of the people, not a good thing.

First they came for the Jews

and I did not speak out

because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for the Communists

and I did not speak out

because I was not a Communist.

Then they came for the trade unionists

and I did not speak out

because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for me

and there was no one left

to speak out for me.

Pastor Martin Niemöller

Pastor,

May I suggest you speak for yourself. Jesus did and all of man kind benefited. Don't wait for someone else or the government to carry your load. You will be disappointed.

Man I can't stop laughing, your sad knowledge of history and who Pastor Martin Niemoller was, explains why you are so ready to have history repeat itself.  Here's a brief history of someone who originally supported Hitler.

Friedrich Gustav Emil Martin Niemöller (January 14, 1892 – March 6, 1984) was a prominent German anti-Nazi theologian[1] and Lutheran pastor. He is best known as the author of the poem First they came....

Although he was a national conservative and initially a supporter of Adolf Hitler,[2] he became one of the founders of the Confessing Church, which opposed the nazification of German Protestant churches. Despite his own antisemitic attitudes,[3] he vehemently opposed the Aryan Paragraph.[4] For his opposition to the Nazi's state control of the churches, Niemöller was imprisoned in Sachsenhausen and Dachau concentration camps from 1937 to 1945.[5][6] He narrowly escaped execution and survived imprisonment.[7] After his imprisonment, he expressed his deep regret about not having done enough to help the victims of the Nazis.[4] He turned away from his earlier antisemitic and nationalistic beliefs and was one of the initiators of the Stuttgart Declaration of Guilt.[4] Since the 1950s, he was a vocal pacifist and anti-war activist.

The Golden Rule has been replaced by the Glitter Gutter...America has fallen upon an echo of fool's gold delivered by hawks who profit by big business' alliances with tyrants.  Follow the money trail...who gains by the invasions and extensions of the current military actions?

Who are these people thinking kiss a terrorist and they will tell all. Why write all this crap how we should treat these inhuman beings. Ask our soldriers that have been captured and had their heads sawed off how bad the US treats its captured terrorist. All too academic in their view and not enough reality. wake up to the real world of keeping out nation safe.

"INHUMAN BEINGS"?That's how it starts, doesn't it?

Posted By: Kathy  on Monday, December 17, 2007

I'm certain this kind of thing has gone on since the beginning of this our country, sadly this commentary exemplifies the extreme extent to which this administration has gone in order to achieve whatever goal they envision.  Government of the people, by the people and for the people obvsiously does not resonate loudly enough in Washington.  That scares me.
