No kidding, tell it to the next president and congress since they are probably going to raise taxes in the next two years.

Posted By: Jerry  on Wednesday, February 06, 2008

This cartoon is so true. I am married and have now 6 grown children. My federal taxes due are always more than I pay during the year. Last year it was $500. I am sure this year it will be more. Thanks President Bush.

It only goes to show, America dont't give a flip about their old or

their dis-abled vets. Use them and forget them..    Stan

The american tax payer that means us - Should always remember what the three wise politicans once said -" #1 the checks in the mail"

I'm sure that we have all seen and heardthis before

HI JOHN! IF & WHEN MY WIFE & I GET OUR REBATE CHECK; WE DON'T USE IT ON TAXES; WE DON'T PAY TAXES BECAUSE WE FILED BANKRUPTCY!!

Great cartoon, it shows the middle class working stiff who has to pay 30% of their income to the nations tax burden.  However from the comments I see many don't realise that if someone makes their living collecting dividend checks, they pay only 15%.  And the rich were the ones who got all the tax breaks since Regan, hoping for a trickle down effect.  Us working stiffs saw our payroll taxes go up, not down like the wealthy.  And that trickle down effect that was supposed to create more jobs?  Well maybe we should re name it the trickle out effect since those jobs that were created from the tax breaks for the rich were created in India & China, not here, and they made those rich benifactors of the tax breaks wealthy beyond their wildest dreams while the rest of us found incomes froze or even drop lower.

The Democrats have made it clear that the middle class will get tax breaks while the rich will be made to pay their fair share.

WooHoo!  With this paltry $600, I can ALMOST pay my taxes!  You wanna stimulate the economy? Try getting us the hell out of  Iraq, and STOP TAXING US OUT OF EXISTENCE!!!!!  Don't give me a worthless rebate

As a New Jersey resident you send my check directly to the property tax collector.

Posted By: Bill Pettinger  on Thursday, February 07, 2008

The cartoon is so true but if you look at the "package" it is just what Bush wanted and once again the Democrats cave in. So people can't pay heating bills, the out of work are out of luck, and we will pay more in the coming years for this.

I pay taxes on my pension.  I get a measly $112.00 after medicare A & B. of Solcial Security.  No raise for me in years. I have to add the interest on my savings so I pay a heck of a lot more than I like.  AND I uderstand because of the bit of social security I get I will not get any of this money G.B. is sending out to taxpayers.  Baloney!

We were sold out by our government along time ago.And now they want to bribe us with petty cash.We need good paying jobs & industry. We don't  need a war we can not win.Beat em with abig stick then leave.Don't rebuild nothing. There going to rip it down anyway.WAST!

you hit the Nail on the head... dum Idiots we will have to pay it back ten fold once they raise the taxes to make up for the Deficit.

"DEFICIT" in Italian means "DEFICIENTE" OR "STUPID" OR "IDIOT"

The cartoon speaks volumes about the fact that our federal government is slowly taxing the middle income wage earner out of existence.  The day is approaching that we'll have a small wealthy elite at the top & masses of poor at the bottom of the social structure.  I think Congress should get paid what teachers get paid, then maybe they can see what their tax & spend mentality is doing to so many middle class Americans.

I have to agree with Brian N. and John Cole.  You are both right.

The reason the economy sucks is because we're spending TRILLIONS IN IRAQ!  GET A CLUE!  Those presidential candidates are right; we need a change, and we need it quickly.

My good friend sent the Site to me knowing that I'm into political humor.  I really enjoyed your drawings, but I enjoyed more your right-on words!  Keep satire-izing!

Ain't that the truth! For us, a low-middle class couple, our taxes are ridiculous. Thanks John for speaking up!

This cartoon is "spot on" for my family at least.  I'm $620 behind in my property taxes.  When the rebate arrives the first half of '08 will be due.  There's where our rebate is going.

The cartoon is a perfect example of what the Bush Administration has plagued the American people--quick "fixes" that truly don't fix the problems of the economy but make a few individuals thik they are really getting something from the government. I'm sure Bush wouldn't understand the average middle class family who is struggling to survive, despite the "peace offering" of a rebate check since being a trustee baby all his life with wealth has always been with him.The check

is like a bandaid on a huge open wound--it may look good for awhile but the bleeding continues.

it can continue to survive, will forever be paying for the people and

think the rebate checks are a

Since the people that need it the most are scheduled to get about $300.

and in most cases it will not even pay a months medical bills and

prescription fees, what help is this?

Like everything else about the shrub and his administration it is just

another joke on the American people.

Why isn't the money being used to help the poor soldiers and their families,  lives that have been torn apart forever.  Cartoon NOT funny.

Posted By: Kerissa  on Friday, February 08, 2008

HaHa!  we spend it now on tax bills or rent or our kids and I bet that we will have to pay it back when we file this years taxes(08) it will come out of any reture we might have gotten in '09 I would rather Bush have balenced the buget and/or applied this to the National debt

Posted By: Bruce  on Saturday, February 09, 2008

I really don't believe the American people would allow this to happen. This is just enough to make sure it's used to pay the price increase in heating fuel.

HEY!

Who gets that money in the end?

Obviously an oil man.

Who would that be? You got it!

Who pays it back? WE DO!

Posted By: Nabil Eldeiry  on Sunday, February 10, 2008

This proves that cutting taxes was right. THE PRESIDENT WAS RIGHT.

Posted By: Bpacker321  on Tuesday, February 12, 2008

Why do I think that next year I will be paying taxes on this rebate?
