Just like the rest of society (well much of it anyway)--no substance, just a great tasting outer shell!

Well put, and very funny! I however, haven't been subject to many Easter advertisements this year, but I'm sue they're still out there, just waiting to strike.

Wait, Wait...A complaint about overcommercializing a holiday that Christians used as a selling point, by robbing the traditions of Pagans? Now that is Funny!

An athiest since I was a teen, Easter has been "hollow" as are the rest of the myths and legends of all religions. Great toon.

Very true and very telling. The focus of yet another important day is lost becasue of the almighty dollar it can generate. Lets get back to the real meaning of this day and what it means to the majority of people.

To Ron: Being an atheist does not automatically void stories of their religious or practical meanings. As a Christian I certainly see the meaning in the histories of other religions. Even that which is commonly accepted as myth and legend, such as the Greek myths, is not devoid of meaning. If you can't find any meaning even in the idea of a man who may have only thought that he was dying for the good of the world out of a great love, then you have not looked hard enough. To JayMonster: Easter was not appropriated from the pagans. Easter is a correlative holiday to the Jewish Passover. It was not used as a selling point to pagans, but rather had a deeper religious meaning as it relates to the great saving event of the Jewish people. Any pagan holiday that was used by Christians was used so as to ease the transition of the pagans to Christianity, keeping the traditions of that culture alive so long as they did not run counter to Christian belief. I have a feeling that the pagans, if this were a pagan holiday, would appreciate the commercialization of their day even less than they would its appropriation by Christians.

We Christians are tired of the overcommercializing our holidays. Christmas...the first part of Christmas is Christ, stands for Jesus Christ and the mas is the mass that follows His teaching. It's a Christian holiday not the pagans. Easter is our Holiday also. We Celebrate His ressurection, this is not a pagan holiday.Stores will use any means to milk you out of your money. Just don't buy into.
