John McCain will tax your health care. Sounds perverse, doesn't it? He's calling for treating employer-based health care as part of income -- a tax increase of $2,000 to $3,000 per family.

Of course, that's not the end of the story. McCain will give every family a $5,000 tax credit to help pay for insurance that they negotiate individually with the insurance companies.

What we have here is a clear statement of the choices that face Americans -- and of the failed philosophy that has gotten us into such a mess.

Most Americans get health insurance from their employers. You pay part of the cost; the employer picks the plan or plans. That benefit is not included in your income, so you pay no income taxes on it. It is a tax-free benefit.

But as the costs of health care have gone up, more and more employers have been passing more of the costs onto employees -- or have been forced not to offer health insurance at all. So more and more Americans either go without insurance or are underinsured, one serious illness away from bankruptcy.

Meanwhile, rising health-care costs are threatening to bankrupt nearly everybody: families faced with higher co-pays and deductibles, along with businesses and state and
local governments. Even at the federal level, the entire long-term debt problem of the U.S. -- at least before the Bush administration added a trillion dollars to it by bailing out the banks -- is the projected cost of health care. Something must be done.

Conservatives like John McCain offer one course. They would accelerate the unraveling of employer-based health care; that's why they would tax it. And experts estimate that some 20 million employees are likely to lose employer-based benefits under their plan. Then they'd subsidize individuals to negotiate their own insurance. And they'd deregulate insurance companies so they could compete across state lines without limits. The theory is that, faced with making their own decisions, Americans would be more cost-sensitive than companies are. And the competition would help limit cost increases.

The problem with this course is that many will fare much worse. If you are already sick -- have a "pre-existing condition" -- the cost of your insurance will soar, or you won't be able to buy insurance at any price. And for many Americans, sorting through the blizzard of plans and price schedules, the changing list of doctors and treatments covered would be a nightmare.

JJ, the health care option for those without employer based health care would be like medicare/medicaid, not like the congress's plan. Ask any senior what they think about medicare. Don't lie to the people to achieve your socialistic ideals. If they were so great you shouldn't have to lie about them. Every single thing that big government has gotton into has become broke (in more ways than one). As for those with pre-existing conditions, they will be forced to do the same as they do now, walk into the ER and demand service, we have been footing the bill for this for a while now and most Americans feel this is an acceptable safety net.

I currently do not have Health Care through my company because it is simply too expensive. My "part of the cost" was close to $7K per year. I was able to find similar coverage - on my own - for just under $6K. How can I find similar coverage, cheaper than a medium sized company? The reason, so I am told, is that the demographic of my company is that of older folks, some that have had serious health issues, hence the cost of coverage per person is higher than it is for me on my own. in other words - the healthy are subsidizing the unhealthy. I guess I should have to pay for Johnny, who decided to smoke like a chimney and Alice who weighs 500lbs and main-lines pork fat. Ah, the Socialists way. No thanks.

So - for me and my family - I can pay $7K per year (non-taxable), or, I can pay $6K on my own (the income of which is taxable - non HSA). If I were to receive a $5K offset from Uncle Sammy, I would say I am a might bit better off, taxable as it may be, no?

My compliments, love what you've done with the white hood, mr Hymietown, sure glad our Rabbi, along with a lot of others, was beaten for you at Selma, as I recall that the three boys killed by Democrat KKK were and American of African decent, a “cracker” and a Jew, typical of the support of true freedom for Americans of African decent.

Jesse Jackson: Obama will rid United States of 'Zionist' control

By Haaretz service

Tags: Barack Obama, Jesse Jackson

"The New York Post reported Tuesday that the Rev. Jesse Jackson said the United States will rid itself of years of "Zionist" control under an administration headed by Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.

The daily quoted the veteran civil rights leader on Tuesday as having said that although "Zionists who have controlled American policy for decades" remain strong, they will lose a much of their clout when Obama enters the White House."

http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1028665.html

Apparently JJ, you're just an equal opportunity "hater", but please make up your little mind on just who you hate.

"Speaking to a fellow interviewee without realizing his microphone was on, Jackson said, "See, Barack's been talking down to black people.... I want to cut his nuts off."

BO's proposed health care $1 trillion dollars per year, I heard him say that the price tag for his other programs like jobs, retraining, etc was a mere $3 trillion, I also heard him tell a plumber that worked for a small shop and told him how his personal costs have risen, that he wanted to "spread the wealth around." Apparently it'll suck to be a union plumber or electrician, or a small business owner having to provide health care to “new employee’s” boy that $2500 tax credit for hiring new over head sure will pay for everyone’s health care.

Gee, speaking of the “soaring CEO costs”, how’s the Rainbow fund for the “second family?” how many companies did you have to shake down to pay for the “second home.”

JJ, do you ever embarrass yourself, we all do, but fortunately not quite so publicly?

Well, heeeeeeres Jackie!  Sprat, one of our busiest racists here.  Pretending, in his empty shell of a mind, that he gives a damn about MLK, Jews, etc., etc., etc.  This useless creature, like most Repugs, is and always has been filled to the gills with hatred, bitterness, self-loathing...all the usual "wrong stuff" that embodies these freaks of nature.  Tell ya, Jack Boy, I saw a screening last night of "W."  You need to see that ASAP.  It's too kind to your hero, Bush.  But at least you'll see the accuracy of his lifetime of ignorance and drunkeness, very much as it actually unfolded historically.  This weekend, why not step out of your own extreme excrement for a couple of hours - and watch some reality?  Of course, that'll require you to rip yourself away from NASCAR, football, beer, bowling.  At your advanced age, you finally need a bit of reality.  Hard to swallow, huh??  Inferiors like you have truly set the stage for what America is today: a land of Joe SixPacks.  Duh.  See the flick, Old Jack.

It is due to your own culpable stupidity that you have no concept whatsoever of healthcare systems elsewhere in the world that are, indeed, near-perfect.  And striving to increase that perfection.  There are no complaints of paying for "someone elses" medical problems.  The clock ticks for everyone in their time and turn.  I have partaken of such care in the Far East - and am intimately familiar with it in Sweden, The Netherlands, and it improves vastly throughout Europe.  You can shove your Nazi horror stories you know where.  The ignorance is yours - sadly you cheat and destroy the welfare for the rest of the country.  Me??  America??  I happen to have been unlucky enough to contact a rare leukemia that exists only in one Asiatic country, where I spent 30 months in military service.  Lay dormant in my body for years, then made its appearance.  I was "upped" in my premiums to $10,000 in 1990.  I have been paying $18-22,000 yearly since 2003.

How many of you losers could afford that??  Are you "suggesting" that YOU are paying for...ME???

Jeff

You forgot bigot and homophobe, I'm sure you thought JFK was true to. The only thing Olie was missing was Stan. As for "Smirkey" the only possible worse thing that could have happened to America (or Amerika as you probably prefer) would have been the Viet Nam Traitor John F'ing Kerry, second worse, Al (how to make millions on the internet and sell carbon credits to the stupid) Gore.

Since you've pegged me as a "racist anyway" here's a couple of real racist statements.

”A Biden Problem: Foot in Mouth

After Announcing Presidential Bid, Biden Slammed for Obama Remarks

By JAKE TAPPER

WASHINGTON, Jan. 31, 2007

Biden is taking some heat for comments he made to the New York Observer, in which he said of Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., a rival for the nomination: "I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that's a storybook, man."

The Illinois senator lends himself to white America's idealized, less-than-real black man.

AS EVERY CARBON-BASED life form on this planet surely knows, Barack Obama, the junior Democratic senator from Illinois, is running for president..”

Lib hypocrites, gotta lov 'em and feel sorry for them “really smart fellas” all at the same time. You do realize that JJ was accused of rushing to MLK’s dieing body and wiping some of his blood on his shirt, by those around MLK’s and that he was booted from SCLC by Abernathy?

“ANDREW YOUNG: After they removed his body, Ralph Abernathy got a jar and started scraping up the blood and said_ you know, and crying, it was Martin's precious blood. "This blood was shed for us." It was_ you know, it was weird, but people freaked out and did strange things. Jesse put his hands in the blood and wiped it on the front of his shirt, see, and it was_ it was_ I mean, what do you do in a moment like that?”

http://www.jessejackson.org/mlkopportunism.html

But I’m sure that Andrew Young is a racist also, huh meathead?

I’m gonna guess that you think the “classic movie” was “Happy Gilmore” or was it "Jackass"? I’m sure you’re a true “intellectual”. If you try twice as hard you’d still have half the wit, nit.

BTW, in all seriousness, voting for a candidate because he’s “African American” is racist.
